Looking for Volunteers on Saturday June 29th

We are getting ready to drop our hay on Saturday and could use some volunteers to help. We expect to have hay bales ready to move starting around 10 AM (weather dependent). We will need people to help pick up the bales from the field, load them on the truck or trailer and then stack them in the barn.

Harvesting our own hay and then purchasing the rest is a way to help keep our costs down. Any help would be appreciated. Give Tim a call at the farm if interested 314-766-8336. Long pants are recommended during the task and Tim can arrange multiple time slots/shifts if you only have a few hours to spare.

Update and Info on our Golf Tournament and Trivia Night

A huge THANK YOU!! to everyone who has answered our cry for help and donated to push us over this funding bump in the road. We are working hard to find creative funding avenues and to get our message and mission statement out to others who might want to help all the kids here at the rescue. 

Our golf tournament is being taken to another level this year. Not only do we have Dr. Betsy and Tim from Midwest Hemorrhoid Treatment Center returning as sponsors, but we have added a $10,000 Hole-In-One Prize. We would like to fill up the course this year with 18 foursomes, so get your group together and register for a fun day of golf and BBQ. Click here for more info.  

Our Trivia Night and Silent Auction is also shaping up.  Would like to fill the hall to capacity with 25 teams. We are having a Hawaiian theme this year so MuMus and Hawaiian shirts are optional.  We have beer, soda and Spam Fries on the menu.  Did you know that Hawaii is the world’s largest consumer of SPAM?  We have some great trivia items arriving from the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Cardinals and many other hometown businesses. Download a flyer and help spread the word.

Jean is also donating her time to relaunch our website and help make us more visible to the general public.  We have created another funding option by adding a donation button to our website that will allow folks to make a monthly donation to Hootie’s via PayPal.  These monthly donations will help with the day to day expenses of food and medicines for the permanent residents of Hootie’s and for those kids who are just waiting for their forever families to walk through the doors. Check out our donation page to make a monthly or one time donation. No amount is too small to make a difference in the life of an animal in need.

Hootie's Rescue Haven Needs Your Help to Continue our Mission

Hootie’s Rescue Haven is currently in need of funding to help us continue our mission of rescuing, healing and rehoming animals in need. It’s never easy to ask for help, but the reality is that we are at risk of closing the rescue without increased help from the community. Unfortunately due to funding concerns, we are currently unable to take in new rescue kids, and that breaks our hearts.

We have our annual fund raisers planned (golf tournament and trivia night) for the first and second weekends in October. Julie, who has been phenomenal in supporting our fund raising efforts, is also organizing the Cocktails for Canines event in September. We appreciate the help that all of our supporters and donors provide! It has become clear to me that we need to expand our support base to continue the rescue.

As most of you know, my Veterinary practice requires a tremendous amount of my time and focus as it is a 1-woman show. Therefore, we are currently forming a committee to help plan and run additional fundraising events. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact me for information.

We also need to expand our reach to help our rescue kids find the loving permanent homes they deserve. As of today, we still have Momma, Sunshine, Gunner, Chloe, Tippy and Stanley on the dog front, plus Bentley and Maggie (beagle sisters who recently lost their Mom). On the cat front we have Mowgli, Bagheera, Ava, Pinot and Kiki plus the 3 kids being fostered by the Scotts that need homes. Being able to rehome animals faster, will not only help the animals, but also allow us to rescue additional animals in need.
